Punishments

During the “Day of Wrongs” trials are conducted for those that are seen to have stepped out of line. Punishments are harsh. The least brutal of the punishments is called klappe where a man is hit in the face with an open hand ten times. Next up the scale is beker, where a tin cup is attached to a sock and swung across the accused’s skull repeatedly. Similarly, a punishment called “carry on” involves lifting the inmates arms above his head and beating him with padlocks, sticks and cups. The last three punishments are hard to put into an order of harshness. They’re all pretty much the worst things that could happen to you. Death maybe the easiest of the three, either via suffocation or a slit throat. Gang rape is second on the list and third is a punishment called “slow puncture”. Slow puncture involves having your anus slit and then being raped by a known HIV carrier. There’s not much bleaker than that is there?
