Witchcraft & Sorcery

Members of Magic Movement, a group of young Bangladeshis, stage a mock execution scene in protest of Saudi Arabia beheading of eight Bangladeshi workers in front of National Museum in Dhaka

As I mentioned the CPVPV are not keen on witchcraft at all. Fair enough. No one likes hocus pocus… oh, hang on… it isn’t a real thing. The fact that they set up a branch of the CPVPV purely to tackle witchcraft could actually be pretty funny, except people are being executed, so it stops being amusing at all. That’s right, people are being killed for doing magic and other supernatural things that aren’t even possible.

The CPVPV’s witchcraft unit are trained to combat sorcery, black magic, fortune tellers and faith healers. Look out Psychic Sally, they’re onto you. A man from Najran province was beheaded in June 2012, a Saudi woman in the province of Jawf was executed in December 2011, as was a Sudanese man in September 2011.

A famous Lebanese fortune-teller was on tour in Saudi Arabia when he was arrested and detained and it was only international pressure that saved his life.
