The Saudi religious police make sure that Western culture is kept out of Saudi life as much as possible. One example of this is Valentines day. They absolutely hate it. They check shops around the 14th February to make sure there are no Valentine gifts or cards on offer. The sale of red roses, red stuffed animals, red greeting cards and other red gift items is banned. If you’re caught selling them you could be prosecuted.
Other Western pastimes are also vilified, like the buying and selling of pet dogs and cats. According to a CPVPV spokesperson:
…some youths have been buying them and parading them in public…
Heaven forbid (literally).
In 2013 two young males were arrested for giving out free hugs in public.

Among other random things that are banned are Barbie dolls. Why?:
Jewish Barbie dolls, with their revealing clothes and shameful postures, accessories and tools are a symbol of decadence to the perverted West. Let us beware of her dangers and be careful.

Pokemon have been banned since 2001. Apparently trading of Pokemon cards is part of a “Zionist conspiracy”. What games can you play? Chess? Nope, that’s banned too due to the “idolatrous nature” of some of the pieces.
So what happens if you get caught? Generally you get beaten, tortured or humiliated. Depending on the severity of your crime you can end up doing jail time too. Like in many repressive countries, citizens are encouraged to tell tales on each other. This helps a regime keep people on their knees, citizens don’t know who they can trust.
