The first season of True Detective is arguably the greatest single season of television ever made. The dialogue, the acting, the story – all made for must-watch TV. The second season, however, was a pile of dog shxt, with the exception of Colin Farrell beating up the school bully’s dad. Season 3 was actually decent, and managed to right the ship a little bit.
As for season 4… consider us intrigued:
There are two things about this season that seem promising. First, the GOAT that is Jodie Foster starring in the lead role. As Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs, she’s probably the best female true crime character in history. So seeing her back in the sort of role is certainly a good thing.
Secondly, the super cold, super dark, super isolated far north setting. The perfect setting for any murder mystery really. Obviously these things don’t guarantee that this is going to be a brilliant season of True Detective, but if it’s half as good as Season 1 it will be worth the watch. Can’t wait to check it out when it drops later this year.
