What Are the Numbers?

Current methods of combating terrorism have virtually no effect on it. We tend to ignore the fact that military actions only fuel these militants and leave a death toll in the millions. To show just how damaging the “War On Terror” actually is, lets look at the numbers.

In Iraq over a 1,000,000 civilians killed by the USA and allies.

In Afghanistan about 25,000 civilians killed.

In Pakistan about 50,000 civilians have been killed.

But these factual statistics don’t seem to sway Western powers from abating their onslaught against these regions. An estimated 75% of all reported deaths in these regions, through the direct result of the various military conflicts, are civilians. Eventually as a civilised people we will have to ask ourselves just how successful these campaigns actually are and if the results were worth it. It’s easy to get caught up in nationalistic “teams” but we need to remember that this ISN’T a game, this is real life and masses of people are dying. Yes, terrorists from mostly Arab nations have and still plan to attack the West, but we should find better ways to stop this without utterly obliterating other nations.
