Genuinly one of the most shocking moments in pro wrestling history took place at the weekend when John Cena finally turned heel after being a smiling babyface for nearly 20 years. Wrestling fans had been begging for this moment for over a decade, and had given up on it happening entirely, especially as John Cena is now supposedly on his retirement run and heading into his final match at Wrestlemania in April.
Well, on Saturday, the unthinkable happened and John Cena fully turned by joining forces with The Rock and beating the sh1t out of Cody Rhodes. Here’s the moment it happened in case you missed it:

Incredible stuff. Will be interesting to see how John Cena plays this new heel character in the coming weeks leading to Wrestlemania. Does he get new theme music? Does he swap out the jorts for full on jeans? Does he ever do a Make a Wish appearance ever again? Have to think that maybe Cody Rhodes will take over those duties now that he’s the biggest babyface in the WWE, which I guess makes the whole segment a true passing of the torch moment between them.
Storyline wise, this makes Cody Rhodes an even bigger star than he was before and he should for sure beat John Cena at Wrestlemania. Unless… John Cena isn’t retiring after all and this feud carries on for a few more months? We’ll have to wait and see.
