O…K then. This might be the weirdest thing I’ve seen all week. Thandiwe Newton self-flagellating in the middle of a TV interview for her upcoming movie God’s Country. Breaking down in tears for not being black enough. Apologising for things she’s not responsible for. I mean she may as well just quit acting entirely and go do something else if she feels this strongly about it? Her agent must be banging their head against a desk right now thinking ‘WTF is this?’.
Unsurprisingly, she’s being totally rinsed on Twitter by the same people she’s trying to appease…
Sis said “I’m sorry I’m the chosen one” lolol when will the dark skin girles find peace in this world

Yeah, it felt spiteful. “I’m sorry your men prefer me 🥺”. Okay girl.

WTF?
Did our darker skinned women ever say they want her to represent them. She needs help.

Maybe Thandiwe did have something important to communicate, but just went completely overboard with it. We all know colourism is real, but the wording and delivery of this apology was so awkward that it didn’t come across well at all. As a lot of Tweets are saying she really should have left out the part about ‘taking your men’, which doesn’t make sense considering she’s married to a white dude. Either way, sad to see any person feel guilty over something they can’t control. Almost as cringe as those white actors who made the ‘I Take Responsibility’ video for Black Lives Matter.
