Wild scenes in Bangkok the other night as a group of Thai ladyboys got into a disagreement with a flock of Filipino trans prostitutes, sparking a massive brawl involving over 100 sex workers, police, and members of the public.
Apparently the dispute started when a handful of sex workers from the Philippines booked into a hotel on Sukhumvit Road, which they were using for business. Well it turns out this hotel was Thai ladyboy territory, and so the whole arrangement was a disaster waiting to happen.
According to reports, one of the Filipino sex workers was accused of stealing a customer from a Thai ladyboy staying at the hotel, and by the time police showed up to calm things down, all hell had broken loose:
Imagine being the dude that set off that riot? Has to be a huge ego boost. Then again he probably saved up a lot of money to go to Thailand and enjoy some ladyboy action, only to have the experience completely ruined by a transgender prostitute turf war between warring Thais and Filipinas.
The good news is that the police were eventually able to get it all under control (via TMZ):
In the end … the officers were able to bring the sex workers they were originally there for to the police station — but it looks like they were all fairly roughed up as they went inside. They were reportedly arrested for working in the area without the necessary paperwork.
As always, it’s never a good idea to mess with the locals in a foreign country, but especially in Thailand where they come out in droves to defend each other. Just like these British lads discovered the other week.
