A student who has been accused of killing one person and injuring three more in a mass school shooting was obsessed with guns and violent TV shows. No shit.

Caleb Sharpe, 15, opened fire in a hallway at Freeman High School in Washington on Wednesday. As a chilling warning of what was to come, several sinister videos showing Sharpe getting involved in violent gun crime were posted on YouTube.

Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich said:

It sounds like a case of a bullying type of situation.

Sharpe has since been taken into custody after he brought the two weapons into school and launched the attack. Meanwhile Michael Harper, a 15-year-old sophomore, said the suspect had brought notes in the beginning of the school year, saying he was going to do “something stupid”. Some students alerted counsellors, but it wasn’t clear what school officials did to respond.

I’m not one to judge but it seems like there were some pretty clear warning signs from this kid that something wasn’t right and people chose to ignore them. Also seems like he needs some serious psychological help and hopefully he gets that instead of just getting chucked in a cell for several years before being released to do the whole same thing again. We can but hope.
