Natural selection is a cruel process – it can wipe you out in the prime of your life if you’re stupid enough to let it. Unfortunately, for one 28 year old Swedish man named Robin Wahlgreen in Australia, that is exactly what just happened over the weekend and it sounds like a pretty nasty way to go.
This guy and his friend were riding a shopping trolley in the middle of the night down a road in Sydney after they found it abandoned somewhere. It was alleged that one was standing on the back whilst the other sat inside of it and they had somehow managed to reach an astonishing speed of 50mph – just imagine how fast you could do your shopping with that bad boy.
The tragic incident occurred when they careered onto the wrong side of the road and struck a vehicle, the driver of which was thankfully unharmed. Both men sustained serious injuries, with Wahlgreen (pictured below) dying at the scene and the other 28 year old unnamed man now in critical condition in hospital.

Chief Inspector Chris Stiles of the Sydney Police Force said:
The estimate is that the men were travelling about 80km/h in the trolley, so they had certainly gathered some speed,
It sounds like they might have had a bit of fun together, resulting in this terrible incident.
An absolutely dreadful reminder that ‘a bit of fun’ – nice turn of phrase there from Mr Stiles right? – can quickly turn into something that changes your life forever. I know I’ve definitely been one to mess about with trolleys, traffic cones and all sorts on nights out but I’ll certainly be steering clear of that kind of shit from now on.
Alternatively I could just see how far I can get through life without dying from doing stupid shit which is – let’s be real – way more interesting. Kind of like these guys for example.
