In the wake of Brexit, it seems like many people didn’t realise that it would negatively affect trade agreements that were in place with various countries via the EU for the import of food items to your local supermarket. But one German supermarket has now tried to illustrate this through only stocking domestically produced items.

Of course, Germany won’t be as affected as the UK by the Brexit referendum, but they’ve still succeeded in making one hell of a point about racism and unity between different countries. The supermarket chain is called Edeka and the stunt was pulled at the Hamburg branch. A spokesman said the following about it:
Edeka stands for diversity, and we produce a wide range of food in our assortment, which is produced in the different regions of Germany.
But it is together with products from other countries that we create the unique diversity that our customers value.
We are delighted to have received a lot of positive feedback regarding Saturday’s action.
Sure there was a lot of negative reaction out there too, but hey, if you do something against racism you’ve gotta expect the racists to come out and protest it. Apparently that’s just how it works these days. Wish someone over here would follow such a forward thinking lead though. Respect.
