I read somewhere that if you’re making a movie then the first and last scenes should always, always, always have some kind of symbolism for the main character’s journey throughout the movie. It should also aim to juxtapose and reinforce the themes of the movie by establishing how things have changed as it has run its course.
Not a lot of people know that, but one man obviously read the same book that I did and decided to check out if the theory was correct. His name was Jacob T. Swinney and once he studied these movies, he also decided to make a super cut of them to illustrate this.
You can check that out below and see if you can spot the films (which is fun in itself) and see if this technique helps you to understand the themes of the movies any more. There’s a list of films following it if you can’t get them and if you enjoyed that, here are some of your favourite movie scenes recreated in LEGO as well.
Props for using the American Beauty music too.
