I’m not gonna lie about it, Sum 41 definitely have a couple of the greatest pop punk bangers of all time in ‘Fat Lip’ and ‘In Too Deep’ and some of their other songs from that era aren’t too bad either, but I’m kinda surprised that everyone was so upset yesterday when they announced that they would be disbanding? Are they still really a relevant band in 2023? Has anyone listened to their last album?

Apparently so, as after the news came from their official Twitter account there seemed to be an outpouring of grief all over the internet. Check out some of the best reactions below:

Being in Sum 41 since 1996 brought us some of the best moments of our lives. We are forever grateful to our fans both old and new, who have supported us in every way. It is hard to articulate the love and respect we have for all of you and we wanted you to hear this from us first.
Sum 41 will be disbanding. We will still be finishing all of our current upcoming tour dates this year, and we’re looking forward to releasing our final album, Heaven and Hell, along with a final worldwide headlining tour to celebrate. Details will be announced as soon as we have them.
For now, we look forward to seeing all of you skumf*ks on the road and are excited for what the future will bring for each of us. Thank you for the last 27 years of Sum 41.
we got blink 182 back, but lost sum 41. this stings a bit

The end of an era. And a bit of my growing up. Love you guys, thanks for everything.

My first gig was you guys at the Manchester arena in 2001 i think? One of the best days of my youth, cheers for all the music, you’ll never know how much you helped me get through some very lonely years.

The revitalizing soundtrack of many youths, the marching drum of many rebellions, and now one of the embedded names in the definition of punk rock. Thank you so very much for being there, for being you and for being fucking awesome. We will miss you all together.

Some of the most dear-to-me core memories of my teenage years have Sum 41 playing in the background. Thanks for the memories, guys. 💜

No way! Your music has always hit hard and been filled with raw emotion, thanks for making 27 years worth of great music.

In a lifetime filled with almost nothing but videogame and anime soundtracks, Sum41 was the first group to break the streak and get me to buy a genuine album.
We don’t know each other, but you’re special to me for that reason alone.
Wishing you the best in the adventures ahead.

Thanks for 27 great years. You defined my whole teenage years, my musical lifepath and you have always been a part. Rocking my wedding. So many birthdays. Making my kids and me dance in our living room. Singing along in the car. And so on. Thanks.

Together with Blink-182 and linkin park, you have been part of my life since when I started growing my taste in music. You were with me in all my most important moments and the most significant one.
Thank you so much guys for what all you have written and played.— Jen moving to [email protected] (@jy1982) May 9, 2023
I have been listening to your music since middle school. It was an incredible joy in my ears, a true invitation to freedom whether I was practicing sport, hanging out with friends or being alone and heartbroken. I was so lucky to see you in the Zenith of Paris. Thank you ❤️

One of my top 2 favorite bands, I never tire listening to any of your songs. I once made a CD with all my favorites and listened to it so much I memorized the order they were in!
Thank you for everything through the years!

Honestly, did not even know you folks still made music.

Yeah to be honest I imagine most people in the world would have the reaction of those last two people, but obviously Sum 41 is a band that meant a lot to a lot of people – including me – so it’s great that they’re gonna give everyone one last time to see them play. Should be a really fun event, although hopefully they don’t play too many songs off Heaven X Hell because I doubt anyone is realistically gonna care too much about that one. Just play the bangers one last time guys.
For more of the same, check out when I wrote about Sum 41’s comeback video and a few fans shouted at me. Tough times.
