People have been cracking jokes about the Titan sub since before they found the first piece of debris, but it’s one thing coming from anonymous trolls on the internet, and another when it’s a branch of Subway trying to get people to eat their sandwiches.
The Subway restaurant in Rincon, Georgia, is coming under fire for putting up this sign outside their branch:
Too soon?
I mean, I’m pretty sure I have eaten a meatball sub that imploded before (and that wasn’t even 12,000 feet deep in the ocean), but that’s not the point. The point is that Subway (or the dummies working at this branch) are making light of a tragedy that claimed 5 lives just a couple weeks ago. Naturally, people on the internet are not happy about this and are letting Subway know it.
One person tweeted: “This is at your store in Rincon, GA. “Not only is it distasteful, it’s just sad. Do better.”
Another person wrote: “This is what we are doing now? Making fun of people who lost their lives.”
And so on and so forth. According to local media reports, a store manager has said the sign has since been removed. A Subway representative also put out this statement:
“We have been in contact with the franchise about this matter and made it clear that this kind of comment has no place in our business.”
