Stormzy is catching some flak today after deleting his pro Palestine posts from social media, and then immediately coming out with an advert for McDonald’s promoting the brand new ‘Stormzy Meal’, which features the UK rapper’s favourite items.
Here’s a (now-deleted) ‘Free Palestine’ post from Stormzy, shared one year ago:
Well, looks like he’s done a complete 180 because he’s now deleted the post asserting that he’s on the side of the oppressed ‘100 times out of 100’ and followed it up with this brand new advert for McDonald’s promoting the Stormzy Meal:
Quids in for Stormzy. For what it’s worth, the Stormzy Meal includes 9-piece Chicken McNuggets, Medium Fries, Sprite Zero and an Oreo McFlurry. Not a bad order, but just a tad on the contradictory side for a guy who claims to stand up for what is right but switches up as soon as there’s a pay cheque big enough.
McDonald’s has famously been in support of Israel over the years, and has recently donated thousands of free meals to IDF soldiers involved in the war on Palestine. This has led to mass boycotts of McDonald’s (and other brands like Starbucks, Domino’s and Coca Cola), with McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski confirming recently that this has resulted in a ‘meaningful business impact’ for them (not that it’s dissuaded Israel from continuing their obliteration of Gaza).
Naturally, social media users are letting Stormzy know how they feel about it. Surely he saw this backlash coming?

Stormzy is completely aware of what he’s doing. He knows about the genocide in Palestine.
He just chose money > principle.
His last 2 posts on Instagram are him on the cover of Men’s Health and the next is him advertising McDonalds?

Well, what can you say really? It seems that everybody has a price, just like the Million Dollar Man said. Stormzy has yet to issue a statement regarding the backlash, but it’s not like anything he says will change the fact that he took down his posts in support of Palestine in order to make some money promoting McDonald’s instead. What a shame.
