All anyone has been talking about in regards to internet memes over the past couple of weeks has been the potential raid on Area 51, which is scheduled for the early morning of September 20th and was the brainchild of some dumb kid on Facebook but managed to apparently convince 2 million people to turn up.

Whether any of the people who have clicked attending on the Facebook event are actually going to bother to show up is anyone’s guess (spoiler alert – they’re not), but Facebook has gone the extra mile to try and encourage people not to show up and be systematically murdered by the US government by removing the event from Facebook. The founder of the event 19 year old Matty Roberts himself isn’t happy about this, taking to Facebook himself to post the following message:
I never got any reason behind the event being removed.
I created a sister event which amassed about 15,000 people before being taken down for no reason.
I think it’s pretty reckless of Facebook, especially because I’m trying to direct people away from storming the base and to come to my festival instead.
And now I’ve lost my entire audience.
Yeah, not sure if you heard about this but Roberts wasn’t that happy about this event going viral and was instead planning on organising a music festival on September 20th somewhere near Area 51 to try and encourage people not to actually storm it. Despite the fact he’s lost all his audience, he still expects 20,000 people to show up to the festival.
Not sure where he’s getting that figure from or how he expects that to go off without a hitch because as far as I can tell he’s some 19 year old loser who has never organised anything, but I’m still interested to see how this all plays out. Could be something really special if it all falls into place.
As an aside, I can kinda sympathise with him when he says he doesn’t know why Facebook removed the event. I know it says he violated the community standards, but the thing is when you do that Facebook never tells you what you did specifically and it is really annoying because you’re not even sure what you did wrong. Not really sure how creating an event storming Area 51 is violating them either. Maybe there is some kind of conspiracy behind all this?
For more of the same, check out this Joe Rogan interview with a scientist who used to work at Area 51. He seems pretty certain there are aliens there.
