The Jewish holy book the Misnah, the “oral Torah” has even more rules that could get you stoned (and not in the good way).
There’s a whole bunch of sexual partners that will get you into hot water if you were to dabble. You can’t have sex with the following:
- Your Mum
- Your Dad’s wife
- An animal
- Your daughter in law
- Someone of the same sex
- A blasphemer
- A wizard
- A stubborn and rebellious son
etc etc etc ad nauseum. Jeez. Even before Jesus was born the Jewish people realised that the Torah was a bit too free flowing with its stoning, so leaders hardly ever actually carried out stonings. Everyone would be dead otherwise. They were worried about false accusations and the consequent murdering of innocents. I like the fact that the dirty humans were more lenient than God for once.
