There seems to be a majorly long debate about the right to free speech at the moment after Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter with the richest man in the world (at least most of the time) seemingly defining it as whatever he thinks it is on any given day of the week.

Obviously Piers Morgan has lumped in with his opinions on the matter as well, recently setting up his ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’ show on Talk TV which he promises to be a zone of no cancellation that would always celebrate free speech. Stephen Fry appears to have taken exception with the presenter’s stance on the subject though, letting us know his thoughts on an episode of Stephen Bartlett’s ‘Diary Of A CEO’ podcast:
I’m slightly worried I may have to leave Twitter.
It doesn’t sound like a nice, happy place with the Tesla boss at the helm.
Do you know what I’ve wanted to do… is go one of those, er, doesn’t Piers Morgan do something? Is it GB News, that he does? Or one of those things?
I sort of wanted to go on there – now you’ll have to hold your ears – I sort of wanted to go, ‘How are you, you old c**t?It’s f**king great to see you, you old c**ty, c**ty, c**t, c**t’,”
And he’d go ‘you can’t say that’.
Oh, I thought this was the home of free speech?'”
So, free speech is negotiable. There are bits that you can’t say and bits that you can.
That’s the point.
Yeah I’m not sure if that’s the most mature way of making that point, but what he’s saying there does make a lot of sense. Sadly I think the headlines are going to be more concerned with the names he’s calling Piers Morgan rather than the statement behind it.
Morgan himself also failed to address it when he responded to Fry’s comments, instead focussing on the fact that Fry thought he had a show on GB News and not TalkTV. To be honest I was pretty sure he was on GB News as well, so I don’t think that’s the humongous diss that Morgan thinks it is.
Poor old Stephen Fry seems to be getting confused in his old age. I don’t work for GB News – but if he wants to come on my show and repeatedly call me a c*** then he can. Would be quite funny actually. pic.twitter.com/vAoiJ7Vuk0

I suppose that would actually be pretty funny and it would definitely go viral, so maybe we will actually end up seeing that in the future? Stranger things have happened.
For more of the same, check out when Stephen Fry got cancelled for saying that women didn’t enjoy sex as much as men. Bit biased there isn’t he?
