5) Jiha Moon
Jiha moon was born and raised in South Korea and moved to Atlanta to complete her Masters in Fine Art. She’s received a number of awards for her detailed work and you can see why.
Her work has a classical Asian feel, drawing inspiration from her home land and from old Chinese techniques but she blends it all seamlessly with a modern flavour.
South Korea’s first museum dedicated to 20th century and contemporary work opened in November 2013 so perhaps the tide of conformity is slowly on its way out. It will be a long journey for those of an artistic bent, but at least there is now some motion in the ocean.
