Games of Thrones legend Sophie Turner AKA Sansa Stark is closing in on the highly-coveted role of Lara Croft in Amazon’s upcoming Tomb Raider series, and honestly, we cannot think of a worse choice.

I mean, think about what makes Tomb Raider so cool in the first place. Aside from a badass female archeologist going on crazy adventures and discovering ancient secrets while murdering a bunch of bad guys in the process, it’s the character of Lara Croft herself that puts butts in seats. Lara Croft is hot, intimidating and genuinely believable as a tough gal. Sophie Turner does not have that aura at all!

Obviously we’re open to being proven wrong, but I just can’t imagine Sophie Turner doing all the things that Angelina Jolie did so convincingly in previous instalments of Tomb Raider. Can you even recall Sansa Stark doing anything “badass” in Game of Thrones? All she did was mope around and change her hair colour. In fairness, she was perfect as the meek teenage Sansa who’s kind of lost in Kings Landing and trying to make sense of everything happening around it, but once the character developed and had to show some teeth, it just did not feel authentic at all.

Then she landed a big action role as Jean Grey in the new X-Men movies and was completely flat and uninspiring (in our humble opinion).

So yeah, I just can’t see Sophie Turner being the lead in her own action series, especially in such a prestigious role as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider. Although she is British, we’ll give her that.

Again, we’d love to be proven wrong, but I just don’t get picking someone with very little sex appeal to play one of the sexiest characters of all time in a big time Amazon production. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.

Meanwhile, Jodie Comer is being tipped to play ‘child killer’ Lucy Letby in new ITV drama. Now that’s what I call good casting.
