When it comes to video game franchises, there aren’t many more iconic than Sonic The Hedgehog, so it’s a surprise that it’s been so long that we’ve heard from him.

SEGA have finally decided to pull their collective fingers out and have revealed that the little critter will be returning this holiday season for Sonic Forces. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox and PC and judging from the gameplay video below – where Sonic races through a city under siege by Death Egg Robot sentinels – it doesn’t look like much has changed at all:

Yeah, I haven’t really got a clue what’s going on there, but it looks fast and frenetic and there are loads of gold rings in it and turbo moves so I’m pretty happy. Not sure how that’s gonna work for a whole game but I’m sure SEGA know what they’re doing with Sonic and aren’t going to screw it up too hard. Excited to see how this ends up upon its release later this year.
