After a one-week delay caused by Dana White slapping his wife on New Year’s Eve, the UFC President’s new Power Slap league made its debut this week, and opinion is split on whether this is something that should even be on TV at all.
The ending to Kortney Olson Vs Sheena Bathory was particularly brutal:

It wasn’t the only brutal knockout of the episode, either:
This is so sad. Note the fencing posture with the first brain injury. He may never be the same. @danawhite & @TBSNetwork should be ashamed. Pure exploitation. What’s next, “Who can survive a stabbing”? pic.twitter.com/jTENpUmJDd

Now obviously these people are participating of their own free will, but still – something just feels wrong about the whole thing. There doesn’t seem to be any skill or sporting element involved. Just people defenselessly getting their brans rattled to the point of collapse, all for entertainment. Do you have to actually be a sick fxck in order to enjoy something like or what?
The debut episode of Power Slap averaged 295,000 viewers and did a .10 in the 18-45 demo, which is not good news for Dana White and everyone behind the show. Some even reckon it will be cancelled sooner rather than later. No doubt there’ll be more horrific slap KOs coming until then.
