I remember Sky hyping up ‘Gangs Of London’ like nobody’s business when it first came out back in 2020, saying stuff like it was a modern day take on ‘Game Of Thrones’ crossed with ‘Peaky Blinders’ and some ultra violent fight scenes. It sounded pretty good to be fair.

Whilst I thought the fight scenes were pretty badass and probably worth the price of admission alone, I found the whole series pretty meh on the whole as I though it was kinda hard to care about any of the characters or factions, but that hasn’t stopped Sky bigging up its return yet again. Apparently it was the most binged premiere box set in 2020, but I think that was probably because it came out when we were in the grips of the pandemic.
Anyway, it’s back for a second series and looks just as dramatic and over the top as the first one according to the synopsis and first teaser trailer below:
One year after the death of Sean Wallace and the violent reckonings of series one, the map and soul of London has been redrawn. The surviving Wallaces are scattered, the Dumanis broken and estranged, and Elliot is now being forced to work for the Investors.
As the Investors look down on a city sliding into chaos they decide enough is enough and bring in reinforcements to restore control. Old favourites and new players fight back against the new order, forcing sworn enemies to work together and family members to betray each other. Who will win the battle for London’s soul?
Lol that really does sound over the top there doesn’t it? I’ll probably tune into this because the fight scenes were awesome – that one episode where they raided the cottage for about 40 minutes was seriously sick too – I just hope I feel more of an affinity with some of the characters this time. Or at least remember who they are and what they’re all about. No news on a release date yet but probably fairly soon if they’re showing these trailers already.
For more of the same, check out this Irish drama ‘The Liberties’ that was apparently like ‘Gangs Of London’ and ‘Peaky Blinders’ too. Trailer actually looked pretty good too.
