So hundreds of sheep have been walking around in a circle for 12 days now on this farm in northern China and the reason why is still a “mystery”, according to People’s Daily, China. It could be some kind of sign of the apocalypse or sheep demon conjuring up some kind of hellish surprise for the world, but I’m hoping it’s something a lot less scary. Did one sheep just start following the other sheep, who was then followed by another sheep, and so on until they all just figured they were heading somewhere, not realising they’re going round and round in circles? Could be. The craziest part is that they’ve been doing it non-stop for 12 days. Think how much distance they’ve covered in all that time!
Big up the few sheep in the video who literally aren’t following the crowd. Obviously strong-minded sheep that think for themselves. Or, they might just be the only ones not infected by a bacterial infection called listeriosis that inflames half their brains and makes them confused and disoriented (via Virbac):
Symptoms of Listeriosis include depression, loss of appetite, fever, lack of coordination, salivation, facial paralysis, and circling. Disease is more common in animals 1 to 3 years of age than it is in older animals. The abortion form of Listerosis usually shows no other symptoms and can only be diagnosed by laboratory analysis.
Ever heard of it, China?
