This beautiful specimen is Sharaputdin Magomedov; a new UFC signing with a professional record of 17-0 who is set to make his mark on the big stage in 2023.

Apparently Magomedov isn’t a fan of public displays of affection, as this CCTV footage from a shopping mall in Dagestan suggests. Magomedov takes offence to a couple kissing in front of him on the escalator, and is so vexed about it that he ends up fighting the man, and then waits for him outside the building where he knocks him clean out and stomps on his head:

Magomedov, a devout Muslim, explained his actions to Match TV:

“You just need to understand the situation. [Dagestani capital] Makhachkala still has its own unspoken laws, its own morality.

In Moscow, this is acceptable, [but] with us this is unacceptable. I could not remain silent and not make a remark.

If it was a tourist or a foreigner, you could simply ask him [to stop]. I simply wanted to say that he wasn’t acting very correctly, but I didn’t manage to tell him anything.

He took it the wrong way apparently. There was also pride. He hit me.

I’m a professional fighter, it was unexpected for me, especially since we were inside a shopping center. I offered him to come out and talk, but he hit me.”

The last blow is definitely unnecessary. But I’d already hit the roof, it’s bad that it happened. I definitely don’t regret that I hit him with my hand, but I’m sorry I struck him with my foot.”

Magomedov confirmed that the pair had made their peace after the incident, so that’s nice:

“We talked. I told him that the last blow was superfluous, and he said that he got excited, that he began to kiss the girl on the escalator, he also understood and realized his mistake.”

In fairness to Magomedov, it does look like the other guy struck the first blow and so technically he was just defending himself (during the initial confrontation, anyway). Then again, he did get in the dude’s face and instigate it while the couple were minding their own business. In his view though, the couple instigated it themselves by kissing in front of him. Very haram!

In any case, he looks like one to watch on the UFC roster in 2023. Apparently we can expect his first fight around May or June where I suspect his unbeaten streak will continue. Should be worth tuning into, if this Magomedov highlight video is any indication:

Meanwhile, UFC President Dana White was filmed slapping his wife in public the other night. Yikes.
