It looks like all of our childhood favourite games will be coming to the big screen, as Sega has signed a deal to adapt some of its most loved games into movies.

Sega is teaming up with production company Circle of Confusion, who have been involved with TV shows such as ‘The Walking Dead’ and films like ‘Straight Outta Compton’. This partnership aims to produce two movies initially, which could lead to more if successful.

The first is ‘Altered Beast’, while the other is ‘Streets of Rage’ – both beat ‘em ups released on the Sega Mega Drive. Media company Stories International’s CEO Tomoya Suzuki will produce the movies, alongside Circle of Confusion’s Lawrence Mattis and Julian Rosenberg. Mattis said:
These are some of the most well-loved Sega games, and we are thrilled to be working with Stories to adapt them into major film and television franchises.

As of yet, the deal has only recently been signed so there are no details of the plot or cast – but it will be interesting to see what they decide to do with these games and how they translate in the cinema. If they prove successful, we could even see film adaptations of all our favourites including ‘Shinobi’, ‘Golden Axe’ and ‘The House of the Dead’. Banging.
