Over the past six years, the first episode of each season of ‘Game Of Thrones’ has always premiered at some point between March 31st and April 24th, so if you had been assuming that the seventh season would be premiering at this point, then you probably would have thought you would be on the money. Turns out that you would be completely wrong though.

Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff (pictured below) appeared on the UFC Unfiltered podcast a couple of days ago and as well as talking about all things UFC they also touched on ‘Game Of Thrones’ because of course they did. And amazingly they decided to drop quite a big bombshell about the release date of series 7 on a podcast that doesn’t really have anything to do with the show at all, just because they could:
We don’t have an air date yet. We’re starting a bit later because at the end of this season, ‘Winter is here’ – and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more.
So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim, grey weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot.

Damn, so that means we’ve got to wait even longer for what might end up being the final season of ‘Game Of Thrones‘ anyway. But hey at least it will look the part and be super realistic eh? I’m sure we can forgive the showrunners for that, right?
