Season 6 of Black Mirror may have been a bit of a let-down, but it looks like Season 7 is on the way regardless, with Netflix bringing the hit series back for six new episodes in 2025.

Here’s the teaser they dropped on socials earlier:

‘Exit Game’ at the end there is interesting; do they mean this is the final season of Black Mirror? Or is it a reference to one of the series’ best episodes – USS Callister, where Robert Daly says “exit game” when leaving his simulation?

It could very well be the latter because Netflix has also confirmed that one of the new episodes in Season 7 is a sequel to the season 4 classic, which saw Jesse Plemons play the reclusive computer programmer who builds a Star Trek-like sci-fi world inside a video game to take revenge on his real-life enemies.

Unfortunately Jesse Plemons’s character died in that episode (at least I think he did) so he may not be a part of the sequel episode, but it’s still cool that they’re returning to that universe.

We also know that Awkwafina, Peter Capaldi, Emma Corrin, Rashida Jones, and Chris O’Dowd are actors who will feature in Season 7 of Black Mirror.

Charlie Brooker and the Black Mirror crew really need to knock it out the park this time though because Season 5 and Season 6 were both rather underwhelming. They’ve still got credit in the bank thanks to how good Season 1 – 4 were, and I appreciate that the real world is becoming harder and harder to satirise these days (especially when it comes to technology). Here’s hoping they’re cooking up some brilliant concepts for Season 7. Can’t wait.
