It’s generally accepted in modern society that if you need to take a shit, then you drop it off in a toilet. However, apparently not everyone thinks that way, at least according to this story from Strathclyde University in Scotland.

The uni was so concerned about the fact that its students and teachers may have been taking dumps in bins and sinks at the new Technology and Innovation Centre that they actually took the step of sending out an email asking people to no longer do it. Lol. Here’s the message:
Given the incidence of people pooing in bins, showers and the likes – can I please remind all TIC occupants that the toilets have been provided for that specific purpose.
All bodily fluids, solids and toilet paper must be disposed of down the toilet.
While I appreciate that the TIC population is multi-cultural and different countries have different practices, here in the UK the accepted practice is to use only the WC.
Not really sure what cultures practice shitting in the bin/sink or why anyone would think that was acceptable, but hey, they said it not me. Predictably, a lot of people kicked up a fuss about the wording of the email and the fact it implied other ‘cultures’ were to blame for the shitting epidemic, and a hastily written apology was soon issued. No news on whether the warning has actually had the desired effect of stopping the shitting issue or not, but here’s hoping.
