Pretty soon you’ll be able to say ‘hello’ to Scarface’s little friend, providing you win the auction it’s going into.
Critics may not have been overly keen on the 1983 movie, but that didn’t stop it becoming a cult classic and one of the most quoted films of all time. No doubt there will be a lot of keen interest in this iconic piece of memorabilia.
The gun itself was actually a fully functional M16 assault rifle. Apparently, Al Pacino being the method actor that he is, wanted a real gun to use in the film to cement authenticity. Fair play. The rifle was modified to have a M203 grenade launcher attached to it. But this time just a prop, not a real grenade launcher.
On November 20th the gun will go to sale at Julien’s Auctions, and Darren Julien from the auction house said:
This gun is an amazing piece of pop culture history and very few items are available from Scarface.
It’s expected to go for a price tag in the region of £20,000. Gutted I can’t afford it. I’d love to film myself shooting my mate around the house and pretending to blow shit up with it. Jealous.
