It absolutely blows my mind how shows like ‘Catfish’ have about fifteen seasons and documentaries like ‘The Tinder Swindler’ are absolutely huge, yet so many morons out there are still talking to people on the internet that they don’t know and being fooled into sending them humongous amounts of money. What is wrong with the people of the world out there?

Maybe this story is slightly more excusable as it’s set in Florida where the mentality of the local population is a bit more questionable, but even so it’s one of the most ridiculous scammer stories I’ve ever heard. Basically, Jan McGhee has been the principal of the Burns Science and Technology Charter School in Oak Hill, Volusia County since its inception in 2011, but has sadly been forced to resign after sending $100,000 in school funds to someone on the internet pretending to be Elon Musk.

Here’s the video of her resigning at the school board meeting the other night to multiple cheers:

I’m not sure if we really need to elaborate on that sentence or video to prove the stupidity of the whole situation, but we’re going to anyway. Apparently, McGhee spent months talking to this person online in an attempt to obtain multi million dollar investment in the school, but instead ended up giving them a $100,000 cheque in order to secure this investment.

She was also warned multiple times that it was obviously a scam by other members of the school’s faculty, but still went ahead and sent the cheque anyway. Not really sure how that works, but thankfully the school’s business manager was able to cancel the cheque before it reached the scammer. Thank God people in Florida still use cheques hey? Sounds like it’s particularly backward in Volusia County.

Anyway, the school board and PTA decided that Jan had to resign for being reckless with school funds and to be honest I don’t blame them. What kind of a moron thinks that Elon Musk is talking to some small school in Florida and then needs $100,000 in order in invest millions of dollars? Literally nothing about that makes sense. Get rid.

For more of the same, check out Elon Musk’s dad giving an absolutely brutal radio interview about him. Unlucky kid.
