As you may have expected, the killer of 10-year-old Sarah Sharif is not having an easy time of it in HMP Belmarsh, with reports today that Urfan Sharif, 43, was brutally assaulted by two inmates in the south London prison on New Year’s Day.
Sharif, who was sentenced to 40 years in prison just weeks ago after his daughter Sara was ‘beaten to death‘ at the family home, had his throat sliced open with the jagged lid of a tuna can, and is now fighting for his life.
Sources told The Sun:
“Urfan was sliced up badly in his cell by two others who rushed in. It was planned and they used a makeshift weapon — made from the lid of a tin of tuna.
“He was sliced in the neck and face, and is still in healthcare and in a very bad way.
“He was lucky to survive, has had to have stitches and will have scars as a permanent reminder of the attack. The guards tried to keep him safe because he obviously had a target on his back after the case was such big news.
“Something like this was always on the cards, and an attack was probably only a matter of time.
“Sharif has tried to keep his head down since coming into the jail, but word quickly got round about who he was.
“Inmates were not happy he is in there with them and, although the other prisoners are in for heinous crimes, a lot of them don’t like people who attack children.
“A lot of them are saying how it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy.”
Last night, the Prison Service said:
“Police are investigating an assault on a prisoner at HMP Belmarsh on January 1. It would be inappropriate to comment while they investigate.”
Can only imagine how much worse it’s going to get for Urfan Sharif in prison if he’s getting his throat slit with a tuna can lid less than a month after receiving his life sentence. I mean, it’s horrific enough to murder any 10-year-old child, but your own daughter? Especially in the manner that it happened, which involved Sara being hooded, burned, bitten and beaten during a “campaign of torture” that lasted two years before her body was found under bed covers at the family home in August 2023.
Sara’s body was found by police to have 96 injuries in total, including 11 fractures to her spine and signs of a traumatic brain injury. It was in fact Urfan himself who called the police saying he had killed his daughter after he “beat her up too much”. Next to a pillow on her bed, he left a note reading: “I lost it.”
I wonder if Urfan Sharif thought he would go to HMP Belmarsh, pay off the right person, maybe get in with a gang, and be able to protect himself that way? Well, turns out nobody likes child killers, and this is probably the first of many beatings/attempt on his life he will endure while he spends the rest of his life in prison. Although I do wonder why he isn’t in solitary or protective custody like a lot of these convicted child killers/abusers usually are. Maybe prison officers are OK with looking the other way on this one? Don’t blame them really.
Sara’s step-mother, Beinash Batool, 30, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for her involvement in the killing, and will probably run into a few issues of her own during the next three decades of her life behind bars. Although likely nothing close to what she and her husband put Sara Sharif through.
Just recently, ‘Britain’s worst rapist’ was also brutally assaulted behind bars. Can’t say we feel too much sympathy.
