This is kind of weird, especially in the context of what happened last week with that little kid being branded a racist for blacking up to dress up as his favourite footballer El Hadji Diouf which was obviously completely ridiculous. I’m sure everyone remembers Ruud Van Nistelrooy from his days of scoring a shedload of goals and diving around the penalty box at Old Trafford. I think he’s retired now after he helped fire Malaga into the Champions League last season, but this hasn’t stopped him from still doing that thing that professional footballer’s always seem to do when they visit sick kids in hospital. It’s great that footballers do that and it’s great that Ruud Van Nistelrooy is still doing it even though he should be enjoying his retirement on a beach somewhere.
Anyway, Ruud Van Nistelrooy decided to celebrate yesterday’s El Dia De Reyes (The Day Of Kings) over in Spain by dressing up as one of the Three Kings who is apparently known in Holland as Black Peter and delivers presents to children and adults over the festive period. So yeah, Ruud Van Nistelrooy rocked up into some Spanish town dressed up as Black Peter on a boat and then spent the whole day handing out presents and visiting sick kids in hospital. I know it’s Ruud Van Nistelrooy but I think if he was visiting me dressed up like this I would be confused and/or terrified rather than happy about it, even if he was coming bearing gifts as well. The costume is really freaky and kinda scary and I would probably be scared that Ruud was gonna fall over in my room and accidentally pull out my IV drip as he was going down too. Old habits die hard you know.
But yeah, the most important question that has to be asked about all this is whether or not this makes Ruud Van Nistelrooy a racist or not? He doesn’t seem to have been trolled over this as hard as that kid last week but then I guess he doesn’t have a twitter account so it would be a lot harder to troll him, but still there hasn’t been anywhere near the outcry that there was over the El Hadji Diouf thing when surely this is worse because Van Nistelrooy is a grown man blacking up rather than a little kid who might not know any better. Of course neither of these incidents are ACTUALLY racist, but on whatever scale that stupid people use to determine what is and isn’t racist I would have assumed that Ruud’s actions were slightly more inflammatory than those of a ten year old boy. Like I said though I guess he’s more of a harder target though because he doesn’t have a great internet presence.
Check out these weirdass pictures below and then tell me whether or not you think Van Nistelrooy is a racist or just enjoying Christmas in a very unique way.
