We’re all well aware of the international sanctions that have been placed upon Russia following Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine, but one of them you might not have heard of is the decision from McDonalds to close all 847 of their restaurants in the country.

This was undoubtedly a major bummer for all of our Russian friends, with some people even selling their last McDonalds meals on eBay for thousands of rubles – which was actually still a lot of money before the currency was completely devalued. Thankfully though, it looks like some wise Russian entrepreneurs have decided to take advantage of the situation and open up their own version of the fast food chain called Uncle Vanya’s, using almost exactly the same logo. Get a load of this:

Lol. Nothing like cashing in on a surefire winner hey?
I’m not sure what’s on the menu at Uncle Vanya’s but some people are saying that it’s just a shawarma stand, so I feel like the Russians are going to be pretty disappointed when they show up trying to get a Big Mac and their only option is a chicken and halloumi wrap. I suppose that’s probably the least of their problems right now though. Or is it, given how butthurt they were when McDonald’s shut up shop? Weird country.
For more of the same, check out when this guy unleashed a rat into McDonald’s when they screwed up his order. Won’t be getting that at Uncle Vanya’s.
