On the same night the ‘Dispatches’ documentary aired about him being a (alleged) rapist and sex pest, Russell Brand was performing to 2,000 people at the Troubadour Theater in Wembley.
According to the BBC, Brand appeared ‘distracted’ during the show, but still managed to get a laugh out of his audience when referring to the accusations made against him.
Brand gave his thanks to the audience members for attending, and admitted that there were things he was unable to discuss because of the seriousness of the allegations against him and the potential for further investigation:
“I really appreciate your support. I love you. I want to do a fantastic show for you. I’ve got a lot of things to talk to you about.
There are obviously some things that I absolutely cannot talk about – and I appreciate that you will understand.”
Following this remark, the crowd laughed to which Brand responded:
“I love you lot already. I’m going to give you everything I’ve got, let’s go.”
It’s pretty amazing that Brand’s upcoming live shows haven’t been cancelled completely in the wake of these allegations, but I guess that could still happen as the fallout if still ongoing. He’s already been dumped by his management agency, Tavistock Wood Management, who released a statement earlier claiming they had been ‘misled’ by the comedian:
“Russell Brand categorically and vehemently denied the allegation made in 2020, but we now believe we were horribly misled by him.
TW has terminated all professional ties to Brand.”
Before the allegations were levelled in the joint Channel 4 and The Times investigation, Brand posted a video to strongly deny all the claims against him.

Brand has built up quite the following post-Covid thanks to his YouTube videos where he was slamming Covid mandates, making fun of Joe Biden, and generally adopting what people would call ‘American right wing talking points’.
So while ‘Dispatches’ could result in Brand losing his mainstream legitimacy, his new base will just say that he’s been cancelled for speaking the truth, and support him even more. In fact there’s probably loads of podcasts, news stations and media outlets begging to host him in the US right now. Andrew Tate x Russell Brand podcast incoming?
