The high school runner who is accused of bashing her opponent over the head with a metal baton in the middle of a relay race says new footage of the incident proves that she is innocent, and that she did not harm her opponent intentionally.
Here’s Alaila Everett sharing the new footage and providing us with a visual reenactment of the incident:

Have to say, I’m not too sure what that’s supposed to prove. Let’s have a look from another angle, which some might say is the most telling yet:
New video angle makes it pretty clear that high school runner Alaila Everett deliberately attacked Kaelen Tucker with a relay baton during a race.

Welp, I think that’s pretty conclusive. The Virginia police department seem to think so too, because Alaila has now been charged with assault and battery over the incident.
I just don’t know why this girl is still doubling down on her innocence, given it’s right there on camera for everyone to see. She blatantly lifts the baton above shoulder height, which I don’t think I’ve ever seen another relay runner do, and then whacks the other girl – Kaelen Turner – over the head with it. An apology might’ve been a better idea, in hindsight.
Kaelen Tucker, who is now recovering from a concussion, says she never even received an apology from Everett and the only apology came from Everett’s dad and the school’s athletic director. Well, at least someone’s sorry. Get well soon, Kaelen!
