Is there any classic film that The Rock isn’t going to remake in the near future? First we find out that he’s going to do a 2016 version of Jumanji and now we receive news that his take on ‘Big Trouble In Little China’ is going ahead.

Actually, this isn’t the first time we heard about this as he did hint at a remake of the fantasy action comedy last year, but up until now he hadn’t provided any updates, making us wonder if it was all just a spur of the moment idea that he wasn’t going to follow up.
But no, his latest announcement in an interview with Fandango revealed that it is still very much on the agenda as he said:
That’s happening, man! That’s happening, that’s happening. And again, that’s one of those things where you gotta take really good care of it.
I think we can grasp from his quote that it’s happening. And as previously mentioned, it will be produced by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who will also star, and is being written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.

For those of you who haven’t seen it, the original starred Kurt Russell as Jack Burton, a trucker who gets dragged into a centuries-old mystical battle in Chinatown between warring clans.
Being a massive ‘Big Trouble In Little China’ fan, I’m not really sure that The Rock is really the one to remake it, or if it should really be made at all. I’m very much of the view that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it especially when part of the movie’s charm is its 80s cheesiness. But hey ho, will still be worth a watch.
