If there’s one song you don’t want to butcher in 2022, it’s Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’. Unfortunately for Rita Ora, people weren’t too impressed with her live rendition of the track over in Rio de Janeiro the other night:

And the reaction online:
Not great. Don’t get me wrong – Rita Ora can sing. She just fell into that trap of doing the classic OTT Mariah Carey-style trilling that so many singers try to do these days. Surely someone who’s been in the game as long as Rita Ora knows that sometimes ‘less is more’? Just sing the song ffs. No need to try and show off that you’ve hand singing lessons. It just comes off as cringe.
Still, very bold of her to even attempt to cover the Kate Bush classic. Especially considering it’s been overplayed to f*** this year. I guess that’s why she tried to switch up the vocals so much. Swing and a miss on this occasion.
For the time people realised Rita Ora isn’t black, click HERE. What a sh*t-show that was.
