It seems people can’t stop taking the mick out of Sam Smith’s BRIT Awards outfit which is understandable really because he looked completely ridiculous in it (as anyone would).
Piers Morgan had a dig at the non-binary star earlier, and now Ricky Gervais has made his own feelings known:
The worst thing about being famous is the lack of privacy. I can’t even walk down the street without people looking and pointing. pic.twitter.com/Sy2pFTEpeF

Some people defended Sam Smith’s outfit choice in the comments, and Ricky casually dealt with that too:
Bit ageist.

As we’ve said before, there’s no way Sam Smith and his team weren’t expecting this kind of reaction from the internet and so it’s a masterstroke of publicity as far as they’re concerned. Still, I think most people preferred Sam Smith when he was the shy, modest singer with the incredible voice. Not a gender-bending exhibitionist who wears wacky Disney villain outfits and gets pxssed and jizzed on his music videos. Old school Sam Smith would never!
I guess like the Madonnas and Lady Gagas of the world, Sam Smith has to shock and disturb in order to keep up with the modern day attention span. The again, you don’t see Adele or Harry Styles dressing up like burnt rotiserrie chickens to get people to pay attention to them, so what gives? Maybe Sam Smith really is just expressing themselves after all. Or maybe his management/friends just enjoy ridiculing him in front of the world. I’m pretty sure the designer of his outfit does, after the explanation he offered up.
