The description provided by Netflix reads as follows:
A devastated widower adopts a ‘nothing to lose’ approach to life that causes him to make unexpected new connections.
Ricky provided some more insight on Twitter the other day:
My wife's dead. I can't wait to join her. My dad has dementia. His nurse hates me. I work for a local, free newspaper, and deal with morons all day. I'm going to get drunk and take out my anger on every shitty person I meet before I kill myself. #AfterLife on Netflix. March 8th. pic.twitter.com/AQ6Pgw2rNx

Wow, that sounds like one hell of a show if you ask me. We’re still a month or so away from the series dropping on Netflix and I’m already all in on the concept.
The best thing about Ricky Gervais of course is that he doesn’t give two craps what anyone thinks of him and is completely unafraid of offending people and pushing the envelope.
He’ll tell you as much on Twitter, pretty much daily:
People think I say offensive things purely for the joy of upsetting people. This is not the case. I do it for the money.

I really don’t understand why comedians moan about ‘outrage culture’. There’s never been a better time to wind people up.

A few of you have asked me why I block people instead of muting them. Well, it's because I want them to know they are now safe from ever being offended by any of my tweets. With muting they could still get upset and not understand why I'm not responding. #Thoughtful.

Be happy. It really annoys negative people.

That’s some good Tweetin’ right there. Hope I haven’t overly hyped this show too much, but I’m pretty confident it’s going to be a classic.
