Dangoor would go to art galleries when he was younger and watch people buzz over Renaissance-era paintings. But sometimes he didn’t quite get what others saw, as the cultural references were lost on him (same here tbf).
His paintings have taken on a deeper meaning for the Grime scene, as his work bridges the gap between classically “fine” art and obvious cultural representations that speak to the subculture-orientated youth here in the UK.
Here’s Dangoor’s depiction of Wiley, ready for battle atop his steed. His steed being a motorcycle, “because Wiley rides bikes.” Fair.
