‘Trapped in the Closet’ is possibly the greatest music video/movie/whatever it is of all time. There’s certainly nothing like it out there in the world and it really has made an indelible mark on popular culture. If you haven’t seen it then you should watch the video embedded in the middle of this article immediately. No joke – immediately.

We probably thought that 33 chapters  – yes there have actually been that many from 2005-2012 – was enough for the series, but it turns out that R. Kelly is working on even more and has 35 more ready and raring to go. This information first surfaced in a profile of Jimmy Iovine’s Apple Music plans, where it was revealed that he was mostly focussed on bringing a sequel to ‘Trapped in the Closet’ to the platform.

This news was later confirmed by R. Kelly himself, who was chatting with the Atlanta-Journal Constitution:

I have 35 more chapters of that done. I’m very excited about that. It will absolutely be out next year.

I’ll tour if it’s a major deal, but if not I might just chill and just finish writing my movie scripts.

Absolutely unbelievable. I found it hard to fathom that he had come up with 33 versions of it begin with, but another 35 is just crazy. I hope they all end up getting made and we get to see the natural conclusion of the series, but even if we don’t it’s not that big a deal because he’ll just continue working on his movie scripts, which are bound to be even more electrifying than ‘Trapped in the Closet’. 2017 really is the gift that keeps on giving.
