I don’t want to get too far into the vaccine debate because like most people I’m nowhere near smart or qualified enough to know what the truth is (and even the people who are qualified to speak on it seem to disagree with each other), but one thing we can’t ignore is the number of anti-vaxxers/COVID-deniers who have wound up catching the virus and dying.
The most recent example is QAnon anti-vaxxer Cirsten Weldon, who filmed herself screaming at people standing in line to receive the vaccine, saying that only idiots get vaccinated, and that we should all ignore government restrictions.
Weldon, who was in her 50s, also claimed Dr. Anthony Fauci “needs to be hung from a rope” and warned on one video: “The vaccines kill, don’t get it!”
As per the The Independent, Weldon passed away Thursday from the virus in a hospital in Camarillo, California last week. This was her final social media post…
In the post, she claimed she had “bacterial pneumonia” – but doctors yesterday confirmed she had caught Covid. She’s not the only high profile anti-vaxxer to die from Covid in the past few days either; podcaster Doug Kazum, 61, died last week after a 10-day-long battle after he allegedly caught it at the ReAwaken America Tour in Texas.
Amazingly, QAnon types are now threatening to publicise the names of doctors and nurses involved in treating Weldon, suggesting that medical professionals wanted to ‘silence’ her and that’s why she died. Which I think we can all agree is completely ridiculous.
Obviously people can and should be able to decide for themselves whether they take the vaccine or not, but clearly a pattern is forming that shows a number of sceptics regretting their decisions not to, and other sceptics dying while still in denial. Whatever you decide, make sure you’re as informed as you can be about the dangers.
