We’ve sort of seen a resurgence of people doing eating challenges and ordering ridiculous meals at the start of this year, and now pub landlord Craig Harker has joined the club by heading down to his local Burger King in Stockton-On-Tees and ordering a Whopper with 37 patties.

Harker shared the footage on Facebook of him casually ordering the humongous £53.49 burger on Saturday afternoon like it was no big deal and he probably did it all the time, even though he later revealed that it was a birthday treat for himself. Unsurprisingly, he wasn’t able to eat it all and only managed to get through 12 of the patties before giving up because he felt like he was going to throw up. Pretty weak effort from the guy really.

Here’s the footage and his thoughts on the burger:

At Burger King you can add on as many patties as you want. On the app I think it only goes up to eight but I thought I’d risk it [at the store] and see how many I could go to.

I think it’s the biggest burger ever ordered at Burger King – a proper birthday treat.

When they handed the burger over, it was almost like them handing the baton over at the Olympics in the relay. I had to be careful when taking the food, especially as it was so heavy.

I stopped at 12 because my stomach was starting to look like the burger – it was absolutely huge and I thought if I forced any more down I was going to throw up.

I got to the point where I thought ‘right this is me done comfortably’ without me popping a button off my pants.

Ehhh I suppose that makes sense for the guy but I always gotta question the wisdom of someone like him ordering such a big burger when he can’t even eat a third of it? Also gotta question just what the point of picking it up is in the first place as you kinda need the toppings to make a burger good and when you do something like that you sorta miss out on them and just have to eat loads of plain patties? That’s probably what makes it taste so bland and made him want to throw up. I guess he managed to go viral off it though at least hey?

Also seems like there’s a real food challenge scene in Stockton On Tees with the recent Jaffa Cake eating world championships being held there at Craig’s pub The George. Gotta check it out sometime.
