A clip is going viral showing police in Aberdeen entering a family home after a neighbour snitched on them claiming they had guests round during lockdown.

In reality, the family’s seriously ill daughter had just been discharged from hospital, and so they were just being louder and cheerier than usual.
Of all the unedifying moments for police enforcing lockdown measures, this might actually be the worst:
“Protecting public health”.@PoliceScotland stormed into a family home yesterday – on suspicion they had guests around… In fact their seriously ill daughter had just been discharged from hospital.
This is disgraceful. Serious questions must be answered – now. @NicolaSturgeon pic.twitter.com/kNLJhqpynS

Incredibly, in this 2nd video, the police remain and continue to distress the family whilst the daughter is on the floor.
We have reviewed a lot of poor and unlawful policing during the pandemic. This may be the most heinous and senseless example yet.
Change MUST follow this. pic.twitter.com/TAMVZHfxot

In the interest of balance, there is another way of looking at this. The man and woman might have avoided all the fuss by simply explaining the situation and proving there was no one at their property from outside their bubble, and the cops might’ve then apologised for the inconvenience and left. Instead they’re mouthing off and arguably making the situation worse than it has to be.
Then again, you would be pretty annoyed to know a curtain-twitching neighbour has called police on you, who then show up accusing you of breaching lockdown rules on what’s meant to be a happy day for your family. Is there any justification for the way those officers behaved at all?
It gets worse – according to MailOnline, three people have been charged with assaulting police officers and threatening and abusive behaviour; two women, aged 18 and 48, and a 43-year-old man.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said:
We received a complaint from a member of the public regarding a breach of coronavirus regulations at a property in Aberdeen, around 11.20pm on Wednesday, 6 January, 2021.
Officers attended and two women (aged 18 and 48) and a 43-year-old man were charged in connection with assaulting police officers and threatening and abusive behaviour and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Ah right, no charge for breaching lockdown measures then? Just a bit of a piss take. Hope that snitch of a neighbour is happy with themselves.
