A personal trainer who has been told that he looks like The Rock has decided to go all-in on the comparison by getting the same tattoos as the Hollywood/WWE star, and even calls himself ‘therocksbrother’ on Instagram.
The 54-year-old from Milan says crowds mob him for pictures everywhere he goes – especially when he’s sunbathing on the beach. He told Metro:
‘It’s an incredible situation to look like him. In general, I’m quite a private person and I don’t like a lot of attention – but I never tire of this because it makes people happy.
I would do anything to meet him one day.’
Antonio says he didn’t notice the likeness at first, but when people began to point it out, he fully embraced it:
‘It was about ten years ago when a friend first told me I looked like the Rock.
Over the years people started to stop and ask me for pictures wherever I would go.
It’s been at a hotel, in restaurants, on the beach – it happens continuously. Once someone followed me down the road for 15 minutes.
I feel very lucky to look like him because he is a great person, a champion in sport and in life.’
He says he once went to watch a film starring The Rock and was mobbed after it ended:
‘At the end of the movie everyone went out and just a few kids left.
When the light went on the kids saw me and started to scream, ‘The Rock! The Rock!’.
Everyone ran back into the cinema for a picture. It was a crazy situation.’
Sounds it. Obviously, getting the same tattoos now means even more people mistake him for The Rock, but he hopes his dedication to looking like him will now result in jobs as Dwayne Johnson’s body double (oh yeah, he’s a part-time actor too):
‘When I am on the beach and people see my tattoos, everyone stops me and wants a picture. Or when I am wearing my sunglasses.
It happens continuously. I get treated like a celebrity all the way through summer.’
In fact, Antonio claims he was once cast to play The Rock’s body double by a major Hollywood producer, but that dream was ruined by Covid. Rats! In any case, he couldn’t be more grateful for looking like The People’s Champion:
‘When I get attention as the Rock it makes me happy.
When people call me as his name and recognise me as his double I feel happy I look like somebody great.
When I’m feeling bad, just when someone says, ‘Hey look, it’s The Rock’ – and I am happy again.’
Fair play to the guy – he actually does look quite a bit like The Rock in some pictures but it’s just hilarious that he enjoys the comparison so much that he got the same tattoos as him as well. Hopefully he gets to meet his idol one day – I’m sure that won’t be an awkward interaction at all.
