Growing up in the 90s, there were a lot of great children’s TV shows and the best part was that because there were only a couple of channels back then so everybody was watching the same shows and knew exactly what you were talking about.

One of my all time favourite programs from back then was definitely Australian spooky/horror show ‘Round The Twist’ which told he story of a family of four living in a lighthouse who regularly found themselves in encounters with the supernatural. I think my favourite episode was one where the eldest son Pete couldn’t stop getting trash stuck to him.
Anyway, the following clip has resurfaced from an episode where a bunch of clothes of old carnival performers wash up on the beach and possess those that wear them. Unfortunately, this meant that a scarecrow ended up coming to life and chasing after the daughter Linda, as the clothes had belonged to the former lovers in the travelling circus.
The footage of the quite frankly terrifying scarecrow chasing after her is particularly unnerving though and after a clip was posted on the internet people couldn’t believe how scary it was:

That tongue is doing serious scary heavy lifting. I felt so icky 🤢 A scarecrow coming after anyone with that tongue is frightening indeed! 🙀

Holy shit I thought this was a new trailer for a new season of Channel Zero. Horrifying.

Yeah I mean they’re not wrong are they? OK the surfboard part is a bit tongue in cheek but they could easily have made that way scarier as well. Even so when he’s smashing up the stairs, it’s pretty creepy right? The weird music when he’s surfing down makes it a bit eerier as well.
It’s just so hectic and genuinely frightening. Not sure how 8 year old me was able to cope with that and not have nightmares about it all day, but I guess it also explains why I’m so into horror movies now as well. Thanks guys.
