As far as memes go, the Edinburgh nightclub one that has been busting around the internet recently has really popped off and been one of the best in recent memory.

In case your unfamiliar, for some reason some club in Edinburgh decided to use the picture you see above in their promo material, which is completely bizarre to me as it just looks like some guy cracking onto a girl who is completely uninterested. Why would anyone want to go to a club where it looked like that was going to happen?
Anyway, most people interpreted this picture the same way as me and decided to put their own spin on what the guy was saying with several excellent interpretations coming out, favourites of mine including ‘It’s just ‘Bodyguard’. The Bodyguard was a 90s film’, ‘Yeah…so ultimately the same policies that Gorbachev hoped would bring about, like, radical change in the Soviet Union actually ended up hastening its eventual demise, see?’ and ‘Nobody votes for us cos it’s all political. If we sent Adele we’d still get nul points’. Classic meme banter.

Anyway, some loser has managed to track down the two 18 year olds in the picture and find just exactly what was going on when it was taken. Kinda. Here’s what Lucia had to say about Patrick’s desperate attempts to chirpse her:
I don’t know what he said but I know I definitely wasn’t having any of it.
I feel like it was probably the end of the night and I was definitely ready for my bed.
I probably just thought, ‘I’ll nod at anything at this point.
Damn. Patrick was so bad at trying to impress her that she can’t even remember his lame chat up lines. I suppose her completely oblivious and non plussed expression is perfectly explained then hey? She probably couldn’t even hear him to be fair because the club was so loud. Hopefully PAtrick comes forward and lets us know what he was saying so we never try and use those lines ourselves ever again. Just saying.
