What’s $4,800 to a man with $2.5 billion? It’s literally like someone on £50,000 being asked to donate 10p. Even still, Jay-Z has opened about how he refused to give the sum to a cousin who asked him for financial help.
Jay-Z explained on Kevin Hart’s chat show this week how this cousin at a family gathering asked him for $4,800 to fund a project he was doing, and was flatly turned down:

Now obviously Jay-Z can do what he wants with his money, and it must be annoying being constantly pestered for cash when you’re just trying to relax at home with your family. At the same time though, it might be a nice thing to do for a family member who’s struggling to realise a dream or pay the rent or whatever. Not to mention how many successful people out there we may never have heard of if their wealthy family members never helped them out at the start of their journeys; Elon Musk, Mark Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Donald Trump, the list goes on.
Now I’m not saying that Jay Z’s cousin was going to take that $4,800 and turn it into into millions like he promised, but at the same time, it might’ve been worth a punt to see if he could? I guess Jay-Z couldn’t really care less with all the other stuff he’s got going on. Fair enough really.
