Did you know that ‘The Last of Us’ star Pedro Pascal has a transgender sister? I guess that could go some way to explaining his reaction to JK Rowling’s celebratory cigar-smoking Tweet over last week’s Supreme Court ruling on the definition of a woman.

Pascal, 50, left a comment under an Instagram video by activist Tariq Ra’ouf ripping into JK Rowling and calling for a worldwide boycott (can you say boycott anymore?) of everything Harry Potter. Pascal wrote: “Awful disgusting SH*T is exactly right. Heinous LOSER behavior.”

JK Rowling had shared a photo from her superyacht, smoking a cigar, alongside the caption, “I love it when a plan comes together,” after five judges ruled unanimously that the terms “woman” and “sex” in the Equality Act refer to a biological woman and biological sex. It was clearly a bit of a troll move, after Rowling had spent years fighting the cause alongside women’s rights groups like For Women Scotland, and endured plenty of trolling herself from the other side. Still, many people viewed it as a bit of a low blow given how devastated the transgender community is by the ruling.

Here’s Pedro Pascal and his transgender younger sister Lux Pascal:

In the Instagram video that Pedro Pascal liked and commented under, activist Tariq Ra’ouf urged his followers to boycott the Harry Potter franchise: “Don’t watch the show. Don’t go to Universal. Don’t buy a single Harry Potter thing ever. It’s time to tell these corporations that transphobia loses money

“It has become our mission as the general public to make sure that every single thing that’s Harry Potter related fails… because that awful disgusting s***, that has consequences.”

I mean, let’s be real here – that’s never going to work and even if it did, it wouldn’t change anything in terms of the Supreme Court ruling. So I guess it’s a bit like Pedro Pascal calling JK Rowling a ‘loser’ even though she just caught the W that she was looking for. Depends on how you look at it, I guess.
